Starting with Lebanese legal handwriting
Dactelo, a Taktek project, is developing Arabic handwriting recognition, beginning with handwritten Lebanese legal documents. On 30 October 2026, the project published a bilingual website and contribution service. The site brings together the project scope, selected reviewed examples, transcription guidelines and participation terms.
A contribution requires a separate review
The contribution workflow supports sign-in, participation consent and transcription of material made available for a project. An authorised reviewer checks a submitted reading against its source image. Contributors cannot accept their own submissions. Only accepted readings are eligible for the accepted-text export.
Access to work depends on source clearance, the material released for a campaign and reviewer assignment. Signing in does not open the private queue or guarantee an available task. Participation may be paid or voluntary under the project agreement. The application does not set rates or process payments.
What the public examples establish
The site displays three selected line images with saved human-reviewed readings from the earlier review tool. They provide examples that visitors can inspect directly. These legacy corrections are separate from acceptance decisions under the new independent-review workflow. They do not establish an accuracy rate across an archive.
