Know what signing in allows
The new public service has Arabic and English pages explaining the project, its guidelines and participation terms. Google sign-in establishes a contributor session. The live sign-in flow was checked through the account chooser and consent screen, then returned to the contributor page. That check confirmed sign-in; it did not grant reviewer privileges or publish any source material.
Before working on available material, a contributor must read and accept the current participation terms. Access also depends on the project and the material released for it. Signing in does not make the private queue public. If no work is available to you, the contribution page should explain that state without promising immediate access to an image.
Submission starts a review
A contributor reads the line image and submits a transcription. Another authorised person reviews that contribution. The workflow prevents contributors from accepting their own work. A reading can be accepted, rejected or sent back for changes. Only an accepted reading is eligible for the verified text export. An unresolved suggestion stays outside that export.
This sequence was tested through a local working service with separate contributor and reviewer actions. The checks covered stored Arabic text, independent acceptance and the accepted-only export. Those checks verify the workflow’s behaviour. They do not establish transcription accuracy on unseen handwriting, or show how many public contributors have completed the process.
Read the project terms before starting
Dactelo is building Arabic handwriting recognition, beginning with Lebanese legal documents. Participation can be paid or voluntary, depending on the project and agreement. The application does not set rates or process payments. Read the terms attached to the work so you know what you are agreeing to and how your contribution may be used.
The first useful step is to inspect the project and its examples, then read the guidelines. When you contribute, preserve what the image shows and mark uncertainty rather than completing a sentence from memory. Independent review gives another person the opportunity to check that decision before the reading becomes part of an accepted text export.
